Recently two cadets from the squadron completed their selection weekends for the Qualified Aerospace Instructors Course (QAIC). Sgt Sam Henson and Sgt Sam Dalby along with 28 other cadets from around the country traveled down to MoD Boscombe Down, Salisbury to compete for a highly sought after place on QAIC No. 6.
Over the weekend the cadets were given a number of different tests based on Aerospace topics including RAF knowledge and an assessed flight in a flight simulator. They were also assessed in non-aerospace activities with a number of leadership tasks and an interview with senior officers.
At the end of the selection, the cadets were delighted to find out that they had both been accepted onto the course which will consist of training weekends until April covering : Air Traffic Control, Practical Flight & Navigation Training, Air Power, Aerodynamics, Instructional Techniques, Radio Communication, Leadership & Teamwork and Pilot Studies.
The course will end with an assessment week including a 40 minute presentation to senior RAF staff. On completion of the course, the cadets will be awarded with a blue lanyard, and will be able to instruct at the Regional Activities Centre.
